Bessie Stringfield


Bessie Stringfield was the first black woman to ride a motorcycle across the US in 1937. She founded her own motorcycle club, won a race while dressed as a man, and became known as the "Queen of Miami's Motorcycling." Bessie's defiance of societal expectations and her daring approach to life is an inspiration to all. Her legacy reminds us that we can break free from limitations and carve our own path in life. Bessie's story is a testament to the fact that nothing can hold us back when we believe in ourselves and pursue our goals with unyielding determination.

    Start by taping a paper sheets to a flat surface, then outline the perimeter of each foot. Make sure the pen is 90° from the sheet of paper at all times.

    Once both feet have been outlined, draw four lines on the widest part of each side.

    Draw a straight line from the highest part of the thumb to the heel, this will be M1. Then, draw a straight line across the widest parts of the foot, this will be M2.

    Now measure with a ruler to get the height (M1) and width (M2).
